WTF IS .WAVCAVE?
Imagine this: two best friends find themselves underwhelmed in Brooklyn, New York.
A recent film school grad (yes, that one) and a budding music publicist walk into (many) bars and clubs and undisclosed warehouses all across brooklyn only to discover - no one is smiling on the dance floor. They end their nights at dive bars knocking back beer + shot specials, trying to understand how such a big city could be lacking something more intimate, more thoughtful, more tangible. Then they took a good look around and thought:
“Wait, this place has a basement right?”
.WAVCAVE began as a series of dance parties at Brooklyn DIY venues in 2016. By combining electronic music artists (live + DJ) and visual artists (live projection mapping + installations) in the basements and backrooms of our favorite dive bars, we found what we sought: a return to our bodies.
In the last 8 years since the inception of this project, .WAVCAVE has undergone various iterations of itself from event series to independent record label, and even a shared artists’ studio space (2018-2020 rip). But rather than thinking of it as a shape shifting entity, we view .WAVCAVE as a simple concept continually snowballing into a larger and larger idea. We’ve had the same mission statement since 2016, and we continue to do everything in service of a “for artists, by artists” mentality. And thanks to the passage of time, we now have more experience, a larger rolodex, and even better taste.

.wavcave is an artists’ collective.
OUR MISSION IS TO BUILD AND SUPPORT A COMMUNITY OF ARTISTS SEEKING REFUGE FROM UNINSPIRED AND UNCOMFORTABLE SPACES IN DANCE MUSIC CULTURE.
RETURN TO YOUR BODY.
